Fanconi Anemia

Bob shared with me about his friend who has been impacted by Fanconi Anemia. His friend had set up a sports event (url shown in the picture) to help raise money to support Fanconi.org. I had never heard of this disease and this is one of the things I love about the Clients Choice Charity; it allows me to learn more about how people are impacted and causes dedicating to helping.
Fanconi anemia (FA) is a rare genetic disease caused by mutations in any of the known 23 genes (including genes such as BRCA1 and BRCA2) that play a role in the FA DNA repair pathway. Dysfunctional DNA repair in all cells of the body means that people living with FA have a very high risk of developing bone marrow failure and cancer in addition to many other systemic issues. FA affects both males and females equally and is found in all ethnic groups.
Fanconi.org is a world leader in research for Faconi helps patients and families dealing with the disease support through education and community. More information can be found on their website as well as links where you can donate too.
Children Incorporated

Clients Choice Charitable Giving program allows clients to direct a portion of my compensation to causes close to their hearts. Suzanne, both a valued client and an employee at Children Incorporated, chose an organization deeply aligned with her own commitment—ChildrenIncorporated.org. As a Database Administrator, Suzanne not only supports the cause professionally—helping maintain IT systems and translate child letters—but also personally believes in their mission to provide children around the globe with food, clothing, education, and hope.
Why Children Incorporated Matters
Children Incorporated has been changing lives since 1964, serving tens of thousands of vulnerable children in the U.S. and in 20 other countries. Donations to the organization cover a child’s basic needs—allowing them to stay in school and build a brighter future. The organization partners with local schools, group homes, and community centers and responds to both daily necessities and emergency situations through specialized funds like Feeding Programs, Clothing, Back‑to‑School, and Shared Hope. Their focus on accountability and personal connection ensures every donation is maximized—not just in impact, but in relationship.
Suzanne’s enthusiasm for the work shines through when she says:
“What I love about working at Children Incorporated is getting to have a front‑row seat as lives are changed for the better … in child letters and progress reports … I catch glimpses of these transformations‑in‑process every day.”
By directing this Clients Choice gift to her favorite charity, I not only honor Suzanne’s dedication but also invest in the powerful ripple effect of education and opportunity. A contribution to ChildrenIncorporated.org is more than charity: it’s partnership—building connections that span continents, lift communities, and transform futures.
Teens Without 2

My Clients Choice Charitable Giving program empowers clients to direct a portion of my commission toward causes that matter deeply to them. For Kashira—an inspired Henrico County school teacher dedicated to giving her students opportunities in life—choosing Teens Without 2 was a natural fit. This Richmond-based, 501(c)(3) nonprofit empowers teens raised by single parents by providing college scholarships they might otherwise never receive. When we honored Kashira’s request and donated to TeensWithout2.org, we not only supported her passion but also invested in her students’ bright futures.
Teens Without 2’s mission is clear and impactful: breaking financial barriers so motivated teens can pursue higher education. Founded in 2014 in Henrico, VA, the organization recognizes that single-parent households often struggle to afford college tuition. Through targeted scholarships, mentoring, and community engagement, Teens Without 2 gives deserving students a leg up—helping with tuition, books, and fees that too often keep dreams out of reach .
By contributing to this cause, I stand alongside Kashira’s dedication as an educator. She puts in long hours nurturing her students’ potential—and with this gift, we extend that support beyond the classroom. Together, we’re helping teens without two parents gain access to the education and opportunities they deserve. It’s more than charity—it’s a commitment to changing lives and uplifting communities, one student at a time.
6 Easy Curb Appeal Tricks to Sell Your Richmond Home Faster This Summer

If you’re thinking about selling your home in Richmond this summer, there’s one area that can deliver a major return without breaking the bank: curb appeal.
Buyers form opinions in the first 10 seconds of seeing your home. If your front yard looks neglected or outdated, they may never make it inside. Fortunately, improving your curb appeal doesn’t have to be expensive or time-consuming.
Here are six practical curb appeal tips Richmond VA homeowners can use to sell their home faster—and for more money.
1. Give Your Front Door a Facelift
Your front door sets the tone for the entire house. A fresh coat of paint in a bold but classic color—navy blue, deep red, or even matte black—makes a powerful statement in listing photos and in person. Don’t forget to polish or replace the door hardware to complete the look.
Pro tip: A doorbell that works and a doormat that isn’t fraying show that your home is well cared for.
2. Refresh the Landscaping
Trim overgrown bushes, edge the lawn, pull weeds, and lay down fresh mulch. These small tasks have a huge visual impact and signal that the property is move-in ready. Focus on symmetry and simplicity—too much clutter can turn buyers off.
3. Power Wash Your Home’s Exterior
Richmond’s humid summers mean buildup on siding, walkways, and driveways happens fast. A quick pressure wash can make your home look years newer. It’s an easy, affordable weekend project—or one you can outsource for under $300.
4. Add Pops of Seasonal Color
Simple planters near the entryway or flower beds with bright blooms can make your home feel welcoming. Go for low-maintenance options like begonias, petunias, or impatiens that thrive in Virginia’s summer climate.
5. Update House Numbers and Exterior Lighting
Outdated or barely visible address numbers? Replace them with modern, legible ones. Consider installing solar-powered pathway lights or a stylish fixture at the front door. Good lighting is not just decorative—it makes your home safer and more inviting at night.
6. Make the Entryway Shine
Clean your windows, sweep the porch, and make sure the porch light works. Add a new welcome mat and maybe a seasonal wreath or door hanger. The goal is a clean, warm entry that feels like “home” from the first step.
